Hello Everyone, I hope you are having a great break. I just wanted to touch base and let you all know that I have entered grades for our "How to Read Fiction" and "How to Read Nonfiction" activities. These activités cover multiple standards, so they do count for multiple grades in the grade book. If you would like some extra practice with these standards (or to improve your mastery), please select a story or article that you are interested in and complete the same activity. Reading: Demeter and Persephone HONORS: -Compare and contrast the biography of Harriet Tubman with the narrative of Frederick Douglas and "The People Could Fly" folktale. HOMEWORK: None Objective: Students will use precise language, knowledge of plot, theme, and knowledge of vocabulary to generate an expository essay that compares and contrasts two myths
-Create a Cinquain Poem about “Demeter and Persephone” -Mini poetry slam - Create a venn diagram comparing/contrasting Sun and Moon in a Box with Demeter and Persephone - Writing workshop (Expository practice). HONORS: Honors students explored the biography of Harriet Tubman and explored this text with open-ended response questions and discussion. Objective: Students will use precise language, knowledge of plot, and knowledge of vocabulary to generate and discuss inferences about theme and character development
