Hey! This week we will determine the meaning of unknown words or phrases with context clues, analyze the form or structure of an article and how it contributes to the central idea, and analyze the main ideas and supporting details presented in diverse media formats (explaining how this clarifies the topic of social justice). Homework: All students should have corrected their narratives and arguments last week, but I will accept corrections for writing until FRIDAY APRIL 12TH.
Hey, This week we will continue our test prep (all bellringers are below - titled "Literature Test Prep"). We will also begin the Social Justice Project 1.) Vocabulary analysis (injustice, community, equality, human rights, oppression, indifference, and prejudice) 2.) Students will study the evolution of protest music with nonfiction 3.) Students will then examine primary sources from various eras 4.) Students will select a social justice issue and research primary sources (to create a map of causes and possible solutions) 5.) Student will then create an argument to solve their chosen issue. Homework: All narrative and argumentative projects will be passed back on Monday. Students may correct work and turn in Friday for an improved score.
